OUR STORY

Faux Flora by Laura actually started back in 2020 under the name Always Crafty. Born out of lockdown and a need to keep creative as a new mum, I started selling on Etsy.
For the previous 10 years I had been working as a Veterinary Nurse and I loved my job. In 2019 I went on maternity leave to have my little boy and everything changed. The practice where I worked went under during COVID, and I was left with a new born and no job. I had always loved creating and had started making cute hats for my child, who's head never fit in to the cute matching outfit ones. I opened an Etsy store August 2020 and my story began.

My range increased and in December 2021 I tried my first local market. I was terrified at first but by the end absolutely loved it. So in March 2022 I started as a casual trader at Ely Markets.
As much as I enjoyed making the hats, the same basic pattern day in and day out wasn't scratching my creative itch anymore.

I tried a few different things but for the last year I fell in love with making plants and flowers. Nature provides me with unlimited inspirations to design and recreate, and push my skills to create beautiful and realistic plants. My the best thing I can hear at market is "Oh goodess, I thought they were real!" Thanks is the highest compliment anyone can give me. So in March 2026 I made the move to rebrand and totally commit to crochet plant life and so Faux Flora By Laura was born.
